Dusty Eyes See Pictured Greetings

1. "Dusty Eyes See Pictured Greetings" This is my title for chapter two. I think that the title reflects the main idea of the story in that everything Nick sees appears to be covered in dust from the city. But also he is meeting all these people and studying their actions by kind of being the third wheel. He sees all of them as he would a picture. But its also a blur to him because he is drunk, and that explains the dusty eyes. In this chapter there are also a lot of rephrenses to eyes and blindness.

2. Nick journeys through the dusty feilds outside New York to meet Tom's girl. While being watched by two blue avertizement eyes Nick, Tom and Myrtle escape to the city together to go to Myrtle's sister's apartment. Nick meets a couple by the name of McKee and and Myrtle's sister Catherine, all the while being drunk off of whisky for the second time in his life. Being repulsed by the behavior of his aquantinces, after Tom brutaly breaks Mrytle's nose, he escorts himself out of the apartment with Mr. McKee and waits for the 4 am train back to West Egg.

3. "Well, they say he's a nephew or a cousin of Kaiser Wilhelm's. That's where all his money comes from." (page 32) I think that this quote is significant because this is a small moment of conversation between Nick and Catherine where Nick gets a chance to learn a little about his mysterious neighbor. This quote shows that Gatsby comes from old money thats inherited. I think this will be more significant as the story progresses.

A. Nick is a very interesting character. To me, he comes off as quiet. He kind of keeps to himself and seems to think about things a lot. I think that he sees more than most people around him do. In chapter one the reader sees Nick as a lonley character. In chapter two the Nick is introduced to new people, none of which he is fond of. He sits in this apartment observing the action of people all the while being drunk. But he still remains the same. He observes and thinks about everything. He then ends up returning home early in the morning. The thing is is that i think he wants to be lonley. Because after meeting all these people he still returns home alone. Nick is a lonley character.
